From Excel to a Centralized Dashboard System

February 2, 2026 • 9:40 - 10:25 AM • Win Room

Over the past year, Texarkana College transitioned from relying on Excel spreadsheets and custom charts in our student portal to a centralized dashboard system designed to provide greater flexibility and transparency. This new approach enables streamlined access to multi-year data views, HB8 , and Texas Success Center key performance indicators, improving both accuracy and usability for faculty and staff. This presentation will focus not on the technology itself, but on sparking a broader conversation about how Texas colleges are leveraging dashboards to drive data-informed decisions, share best practices, and explore innovative strategies for institutional effectiveness.

Invisible Graduates: How Tarrant County College Found 431 Missing Credentials

February 2, 2026 • 2:20 - 3:05 PM • Win Room

When Texas moved to performance based funding, Tarrant County College discovered that its long standing auto graduation process was still missing students who had earned credentials but were invisible in Ellucian Colleague unless every detail of their program was perfectly coded. Partnering across Admissions and Records, IT, and Institutional Research, TCC built a more flexible, data driven approach that continuously checks every student against degrees, certificates, core curriculum, and fields of study, whether or not the major on file is correct. In the first year, this work surfaced 431 additional completers that traditional reports could not see, strengthening both student outcomes and HB 8 metrics. This session will show CIOs how technology, governance, and process redesign came together to uncover those hidden credentials and move from one off studies to an ongoing, automated practice.
