Most community colleges aren’t suffering from a lack of data; they’re suffering from a lag. Reports arrive after the registration window closes, after the student withdraws, after the intervention would have mattered. This session brings together institutional leaders from two North Carolina community colleges to share what it took to deliver the right data to leaders, advisors, deans, and enrollment teams in time to act.

Dr. Terri Lee ( Johnston Community College) will discuss how visibility across enrollment, persistence, and stop-out behavior supported 60% curriculum enrollment growth and a 24% increase in returning stop-out students. Dr. Cindy Dean (Stanly Community College) will share how targeted analytics – including closing performance gaps in gateway courses and tracking student momentum across programs – helped the college earn Achieving the Dream Leader College of Distinction recognition and a semifinalist designation for the 2027 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, one of 25 colleges selected nationwide.
