Grayson County College Selects ZogoTech™ to Implement Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence Solution
College Will Access Key Data to Track Effectiveness of Programs on Daily Basis
December 10, 2009 (Dallas, TX)—ZogoTech™, a leading provider of data warehousing and business intelligence software for higher education, announced today that it has been selected by Dennison, TX-based Grayson County College (GCC) to integrate its executive intelligence, research intelligence and student engagement modules with the college’s enterprise resource planning system, giving the college a fast, accurate view of current data. By accessing these data, the college will have the evidence needed to make decisions regarding facilities management, programs and student intervention.
As a growing college of 4,000 students who serves many North Texas communities, GCC needed consistent information to serve multiple audiences. However, its current system was mainly linear-based, making it difficult to extract the data needed for current reporting demands.
“There are very few power users on our campus,” says Debbie Plyler, Director of Institutional Effectiveness, “so most of our campus end users who make decisions and monitor the effectiveness of their programs and services are unable to get the information out of the system. We have been making anecdotal decisions because we have silos of data in different places.”
GCC’s information is not consistent, depending on which database it comes from or even what day of the week in which the data was pulled. The implementation of ZogoTech’s data warehousing and business intelligence solution will help GCC to take an analytical approach to managing the institution and reporting required data to other constituents.
“First of all, the most important for us, is the executive intelligence,” says Plyler. “We’re working on a balanced scorecard and we are hoping to be able to automate that with ZogoTech’s software so that our executive team has a new scorecard every morning where we can drill down to the specific programs.”
Until now, the college’s deans have not been able to monitor enrollment, completers and other data required by the college’s coordinating board, legislative board and others.
“If we had this available to the deans and the program directors where we could monitor that incrementally, then we would know when we need to apply an intervention or take action. Instead of having just a reporting model, we are moving to a proactive model,” says Plyler.
GCC chose ZogoTech’s solution for ease of reporting and data accuracy. Additionally, key performance indicators will also be automatically calculated, such as cohorts and stop-outs, so that progress and problems among various types of student groups can be easily identified. And with the ZogoTech, GCC will be able to identify students who are at risk of dropping out or failing.
ZogoTech is currently in the deployment phase, working closely with the GCC institutional research and information technology teams for a seamless integration.
