Estudias Architecture

ZogoTech's Estudias Enterprise software is a data warehouse with three modules:

1. Executive Intelligence: Executives can monitor strategic goals through dashboards / scorecards, subscription reporting, and enrollment prediction.
2. Research Intelligence: Administrators, researchers, and deans can dynamically manipulate retention, graduation and transfer data to show trends over time and make data-driven decisions.
3. Student Engagement (CRM) module consolidating insecure information silos with data warehouse data to show all information about a student in one, centrally managed place.

These modules overlap: information from the Student Engagement (CRM) module is linked to information from the data warehouse to tie services to learning outcomes, the results of which can be viewed through the Executive and Research Intelligence modules. 

Estudias is built on a flexible, multi-tier architecture.  Each tier is independent of the others so that changes in one do not ripple through the rest of the application. 

For example, the ETL layer simply requires text files in a particular format.  It does not matter how those text files are generated.  If your student information system changes, you will only need to change you generate those files.  See details: ETL.

Server

• Estudias Enterprise runs on SQL-Server 2000 or 2005.
• Contact us for support for other databases.

Client

• The Research Intelligence OLAP charts and tables are ActiveX controls that are accessible through the Estudias Enterprise client or can be accessed from any web browser
• Users can also access the Estudias Enterprise data and OLAP cubes through Microsoft Excel, SAS, SPSS or any other ODBC-compliant software.

Security

• Security is maintained on the server (not in the application) and information can be encrypted via SSL so users can securely access Estudias Enterprise data through Microsoft Excel, Access, SPSS, SAS, or any other ODBC connection and still be subject to the same security and auditing framework.
• Trusted connections mean that passwords are not passed across the network
• C2 Level Auditing certified by Department of Defense: to help determine what each user does with Estudias Enterprise (available on SQL-Server deployments)
• Estudias Enterprise supports very granular security (per table, per column) i.e. restricting users from seeing SSNs

Maintenance

Estudias is designed to be a highly available, robust, low-maintenance application.  When based on SQL-Server, maintenance is very low, not requiring someone with specialized SQL-Server qualifications.  See details.
