Metadata and Data Quality
Reports are only as good as the data on which they are based.
Information like incorrect data on headcounts or GPAs can affect reports, accurate
decision making and funding. After years of data entry
errors, most systems have poor data quality. Estudias
Enterprise allows schools to identify and correct data quality
errors, leading to cleaner data over time.
Discrepancy Checks
The example below shows data quality information for the Student
Terms download. Estudias Enterprise downloads the information directly from your
student information system (i.e. Datatel Colleague, PeopleSoft, SCT
Banner) and then performs customizable data integrity checks
to look for potential errors, or discrepancies in the downloaded
data.
An obvious discrepancy would be a student who receives a
GPA > 4.0 for a term or whose birth date indicates that they were
less than 16 years old upon entering the school; however, Estudias
Enterprise also supports more complicated rules such as those
indicating the relationships between tables or calculations.

- Drill-down Estudias Enterprise shows the total number
of errors and allows drill-down to see the specific records that are
incorrect.
- Reporting Estudias Enterprise includes
reports showing data quality over time.
- Notifications Estudias Enterprise can send
email notifications when data quality errors appear or pass a
specified threshold.
Data Triangulation
Estudias Enterprise calculates
values and then compares them to information
downloaded from another source to spot discrepancies. Upcoming
versions of Estudias Enterprise will integrate with external
data sources (such as IPEDS reports) to further validate data and
recognize discrepancies.
